What is Toxicology?

Toxicology is the study of the adverse effects of chemicals or substances on living systems.
Why a Toxicology Certificate?
Toxicology crosses a broad range of disciplines including biology, pharmacology, chemistry and medicine. OSU offers a graduate certificate in Interdisciplinary Toxicology Many students combine the graduate certificate in interdisciplinary toxicology (12 hrs) to further enhance their training.

Toxicology Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Interdisciplinary Toxicology provides students with a survey exposure to basic concepts and principles in toxicology. Twelve credit hours to include courses from at least two different participating departments/colleges (see Courses Offered) are required for conferring the Certificate. This Certificate will prepare students from multiple backgrounds in environmental and public health issues surrounding chemical toxicity. Students apply for admission through the Graduate College.

Students in the Certificate Program can apply for funds to support training opportunities/travel (contact Jason Belden for information). Applications for travel support must be made 30 days in advance of the proposed travel. An annual Paracelsus Award (see Fellowships and Awards) will be given to the top student receiving the certificate based on academic performance and engagement in interdisciplinary efforts within the Program.
